Welcome to Laricina Energy
Laricina is a private company created in November 2005 concentrating on capturing opportunities in the oil sands areas of Western Canada.
Our Company is focused on creating value through developing a diverse portfolio of oil sands assets that leverage technology and market developments.
Our experienced people will innovate the next steps of in situ development and provide a technical expertise not readily available in the industry.
Laricina, the latin name for Larch, is a species of tree known as the Tamarack, which is common to Western Canada and tough adverse climates. The Tamarack is a pioneer tree that becomes dominant in its surroundings.
Laricina will emulate the Tamarack in the specific areas where it expects to grow and identify opportunities in the oil sands where others have been unable to progress.

Laricina files 5,000 barrel per day Commercial Demonstration Project amendment to its 1,800 barrel per day pilot project at Germain. In Oct 2009, the original pilot project was approved by the Energy Resources Conservation Board and Alberta Environment. The modified project will be a Commercial Demonstration project and increase bitumen production to 5,000 barrels per day and will have several advantages over the original pilot, notably it will incorporate solvent injection, diluent treating and water recycling. These amendments are expected to result in improved product value, lower steam to oil ratio and carbon emissions for the same volume of bitumen produced by thermal processes alone.

Laricina files an amendment to its 1,800 barrel per day pilot project at Saleski. In July 2009, the original pilot project was approved by the Energy Resources Conservation Board and Alberta Environment. The amendment proposes to add solvents to steam in the SAGD process. Based on extensive lab testing and field work, Laricina believes that the addition of solvents will lower the steam requirements while maintaining the production rates.
