Laricina Energy Ltd. wishes to congratulate board member Mr. S. Barry Jackson who was inaugurated at the 2010 ICD Fellowship Awards Gala held in Calgary on June 2, 2010 with the Institute of Corporate Directors Fellow designation.
The ICD Fellowship Awards, created in 1997, are the highest distinction for corporate directors in Canada and are presented annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Canadian enterprises and not-for-profit organizations by bringing sound governance leadership to boardrooms across the country.
Each year, the Institute of Corporate Directors presents the Fellowship Award to several of Canada's leading directors, who have been nominated by their peers and selected by an independent committee. The committee considered a number of attributes such as: leadership, accountability to stakeholders, contributions to governance, and knowledge of the business. To date, 52 directors across Canada have been presented with this award.
Glen Schmidt, President and CEO of Laricina, says the choice of Barry Jackson as a Fellow Award recipient is a natural one. “Barry is a tremendous asset to any board he serves. His experience, business acumen and leadership provide Laricina with a tremendous resource in understanding the risks and trends associated with the oil sands industry”.
Mr. Jackson is currently Chairman of the Board of TransCanada Corporation, and serves as a board member of Nexen Inc. and WestJet Airlines Ltd. He has previously served as Chairman on the Boards for Resolute Energy Inc. and Deer Creek Energy Limited and as director for Crestar Energy Inc., Northstar Energy Corporation, Westcoast Energy Inc., Gulf Canada Resources Ltd., Enmax Corporation, Cordero Energy Ltd, the United Way of Calgary and the Calgary Petroleum Club. Mr. Jackson holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Engineering) from the University of Calgary.
