Laricina presents at the World Heavy Oil Congress 2011 in Edmonton


Laricina presented two papers at the World Heavy Oil Congress 2011, held in Edmonton, Alberta March 14-17. To learn more about the conference, an international forum for the heavy oil community, click here.

Sandeep Solanki, Director Asset Development, EOR and Technology, presented a paper entitled The first SC-SAGD Pilot in the Grosmont. This paper provides a geological overview of the Grosmont resource, key reservoir parameters and discusses Laricina’s Saleski Pilot performance predictions and outlined its objectives. It also discusses the drilling and completion performance in the Grosmont reservoir and outlined the surface facilities constructed for the thermal project. To view the paper abstract click here. Behdad Moini, Reservoir Engineer, presented an additional paper, Quantifying Heat Requirements for SAGD Start-up Phase: Steam Injection and Electrical Heating, which describes a method to calculate the minimum amount of heat required to keep a wellbore hot either by steam injection or through newer technologies of electrical heating of wellbores, where the minimum electrical power requirement is unknown.
